Kevin Rose Rumor: New iPhones Launch Next Week, New $200 iPhone

As some of you may know, Digg founder Kevin Rose has a history of spreading iPhone rumors, like when he said a couple of months ago
that the next iPhone would have a front camera for video chatting, or when he "confirmed" back in March that Apple would release a 3G iPhone some time in June. Now he's back with more rumors, this time dealing with a slightly more specific launch time and a possible price variation.

Kevin posted this video on Seesmic, where he says that he has heard word that the new iPhones will be launching some time next week.
He also claims to have information that a low-end iPhone will be added to the lineup that sells for US$200.

Keep in mind, we have no idea how accurate any of this might be. His claims that the next iPhone would have 3G and would launch in June
are probably not far off, but the video chat camera he spoke of remains to be proven (although the rumor hasn't been dispelled, either).
We have no clue where he's getting this information from, so it could all just be a rumor, not to mention he warns
that he does hold shares of AAPL stock, so he's not completely unbiased.

Ich kann es kaum erwarten! Nächsten Montag ist es schon soweit! Ich bin wirklich gespannt ob und wie das neue iPhone 2.0 vorgestellt wird!!! Gibt es diesbezüglich auch Livestreams von der WWDC im iNet wo man Live zusehen kann?!? Weiss da jemand mehr?

wird wahrscheinlich nächste woche bekanntgegeben. aber dann wird das forum wieder voll gespammt :P

ganz witzig wird es erst dann wieder wenn die neue Firmware über iTunes zu haben sein wird und viele aus versehen updaten ohne das es eine definitive Unlock Methode geben wird, zumindest am Anfang! Die neue Firmware, das neue iPhone.... Ich halts nicht mehr aus!...

Ich schreibe dann extra Massenmails, die die Empfehlung enthalten, sofort per iTunes zu updaten Damit die Mods auch wieder mal ein wenig was zu tun haben

Apple is expected by analysts to allow mobile phone operators to subsidise the touch-screen handset, which is likely to use third-generation technology, giving it much faster internet access and download speeds.

Steve Jobs, the chief executive and co-founder of Apple, is expected to unveil the new phone during his keynote speech at the company’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference in San Francisco on June 9. Unlike the original, Britons will be able to buy it soon.

A source close to the deal said that the new model was expected to be on shops’ shelves by July, very shortly after the launch in the United States. There was a gap of several months between the American and British launches of the original devices.

UBS analysts believe that the new iPhone could be available across Europe for as little as €99, but think that this price is unlikely to be that low in the UK, where O2, the mobile operator, has a multi-year exclusive deal for the iPhone, suggesting that a British price could be close to £100.

Ben Wood, a CCS Insight analyst, said: “They are also looking for more flexibility on how the operators can price the iPhone, although I am not convinced that they will let them have open season on the price, as they have a lucrative iPod market to protect.”

Cutting the price and ending exclusivity will help Apple to meet its target of selling ten million iPhones by the end of the year. It is a long way short of that. At the end of December the exclusive carriers for Britain, Germany and France — O2, T-Mobile and Orange — had sold 330,000 phones between them, but industry sources say that European iPhone sales were forecast at 500,000 to 600,000 units.

Apple’s former strategy — in which operators pay upfront for the iPhone, sell it to customers with a small mark-up plus VAT, and pay an estimated 15 per cent of average revenue per user to Apple — has begun to crumble in Europe. In April Tim Cook, Apple’s chief operating officer, said that carriers were free to price the iPhone as low as they wished and followed it with a U-turn on operator exclusivity.

Glaube zwar nicht an die dort erwähnte 99€ Theorie aber hoffentlich wird es auch nicht 499€ (16GB-Variante) kosten. 299€ fände ich angemessen!!!

und selbst wenn UMTS das einziege ist, dann hol ich mir das trotzdem
wenn es hier 299€ kostet bleibt dann trotzdem t-mobile der monopol halter auf iphones? oder wirds das dann auch endlich mal wie jedes andere handy frei aufm markt zu kriegen sein? sonst kommt für mich nur import in frage....
naja ich weiß, fragen auf die es keine antwort gibt. ich bin mal einfach gespannt^^

T-Mobile hat dann immer noch die exklusiven Rechte da sie ja einen Vertrag mit Apple geschlossen haben und daran wird sich so schnell auch erst einmal nichts ändern.
Also wird es auch das iPhone 2 nur bei T-Mobile geben.

ich glaub aber das es in dem vertrag nur darum geht DAS iPhone exklusiv bei t-mobile zu verkaufen.
Das würde heißen dass das iPhone 2g noch gar nicht erwähnt ist und ein neuer Vertrag abgeschlossen werden müsste aber nicht unbedingt mit t-mobile.

tmob hat einen vertrag für das iphone 1

das 2er soll angeblich frei verkäuflich werden

lohnt es sich das alte iphone noch zu kaufen oder sollte man lieber warten

ich würde auf jeden fall noch warten bis wirklich feststeht was das neue kann und was es kosten wird

Nur für UMTS? Dafür komme ich mit EDGE zu gut aus...

Ich glaub man sollte ein wenig bei den Fakten bleiben Is ja nich im Fun Bereich hier oder...
Ich bin mal gespannt auf den 9. was dann wirklich wann raus kommt.
Man sollte mit dem Kauf vom alten Iphone wohl wirklich abwarten.
1. Ist das Iphone 2 evtl. vieeeeel besser
2. Der Kurs für das "alte" Iphone wird ordentlich absinken

Ich bin ganz deiner meinung... die eine woche noch auszuhalten wird ja nicht so schwierig sein.. zumal am samstag EM beginnt
