DevTeam | Pwnage Tool V1.1 [OS X]

DevTeam Press Release @ April 03, 2008 :

The “DevTeam” would like to announce the release of the OS X version of the PwnageTool application.

The team (and especially Wizdaz) have been working hard to bring you this release in as short a time as possible.

The plan (4 weeks ago) was to release a Mac tool only. This was decided because of the lack of reliable Mac filesystem tools on Windows,
and the fact that the task of porting them would be too time consuming.

With that in mind the genius that is “cmw” stepped up to the plate and offered his services to the DevTeam.
He proposed to provide a tool that would give the same functionality and User Interface as the Mac tool.

cmw has done an almost unthinkable task and ported the almost complete Pwnage Tool to Windows in a little under a week,
and we would like to thank him for this unbelievable work. He is currently in the final test stages
and hopefully this should be finished within the next 24 hours
(but even he needs sleep and family time occasionally!)
We'll post a link as soon as the testing has finished.

cmw's site is at http://www.iphonelinux.org

The Mac tool is available at http://www.iphone-dev.org

Thanks to Sal Iovine for the awesome Steve parody image, this is copyrighted material and is provided to the DevTeam
under a Creative Commons Attribution No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported license, you can see more of his work at http://www.saliovine.blogspot.com/

According to their According to their home page, The iPhone DevTeam has decided to withdraw itself from iPhone development.
The decision was made after the legitimacy of the Team's "Pwnage Tool" was called into question and several members
decided to end their work because of it. On the 31st, the team was approached by a third party with the intent of purchasing
the Team's intellectual property and related applications. The deal was made and development was halted.

All future releases including the aforementioned "Pwnage Tool" will not be released.

So I was quite shocked when I saw this. I sent a quick message to some of my pals over at TUAW and they didn't seem to have any further info on the announcement. Of course, after thinking about it for a few minutes, I noticed the date: March 31st.
With tomorrow being a day of gags and foolery, I'm assuming that once April 2nd hits,
the DevTeam's page will return to normal. We'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks to everyone who (frantically) sent this in!

Update:
As far as we can tell, it was all just a joke and the DevTeam has returned. Visiting their site shows a cartoon rendering of Steve Jobs
saying something in a speech bubble. We're not sure what he's saying, but we're assuming it's something like "April Fools"
or simply "Boom!" (tell us if you know). At the bottom of the page is an updated link to the DevTeam's wiki.

So breathe a sign of relief, the DevTeam is still here.

Pirols

The expected release of the Mac OS X version of “PwnageTool” has been delayed until sometime next week.

Legal enquiries were made to the DevTeam about the validity and legality of the contents of the tools, we would like to stress that no third-party copyrighted software will ever be released by the DevTeam.

Also, initial feedback from Beta testers has indicated that a few small changes and additional features should be developed.

Another major request from the Beta testers and demo viewers is that the team brings forward the release of the Windows version, with the feedback that has been received the team has decided to expedite the release of the Windows tool for a dual platform release sometime next week, iPod touch support will also be finalized.

The DevTeam would like to thank the users for being patient and waiting for the upcoming release.

The video presentation that was released yesterday has been viewed over 100,000 times in 24 hours proving the overwhelming demand for the application.

To summarize :-

*
Pwnage Tool Application releases sometime in the next week for Mac OS X 10.4.x, 10.5.x and Windows.

*
The tool contains revised logos and icons.

*
PwnageTool does NOT ship with any Apple licensed software, Intellectual Property, trademarks, logos or images.

*
As my Mother would say “If you are going to be late, arrive with flowers”.

Hallo

Was mir noch nicht ganz klar ist, wo ist der Unterschied zu den Tools wie ZiPhone und iLibertyX, was macht dieses Tool anders/besser als die anderen?

@jackagi
