In the last few days, I had a temporary problem where the earpiece speaker on the top of the phone stops working. I make a call and there is no sound  print holiday postcards for mailing
When the call is made and silence is answered. After restarting the phone, the speaker wants to work normally again. Is this a hardware or software problem?

Since restarting helps, it is most likely a software problem. You can try making a backup and restoring your phone (both via iTunes) in order to reset your device to factory settings. Check if the issue is resolved. If it is, it probably was a software issue, and you can try restoring the data from your backup to your phone. With luck, the issue is still resolved after restoring the backup. If not, you can try backing up and restoring via iCloud (which restores less system data), but in the worst case you might need to set up your phone as a new iPhone (contacts, photos, calendar etc. can Still be synced back using cloud services). If restoring your phone does not work at all, it's rather a hardware issue.
