guten tag zusammen,

seit kurzem nutze ich eine app, mit der ich meine position auf dem golfplatz bestimmen kann (heißt golfshot). weil ich mein iphone (ein 3G ohne jailbreak) in deutschland grundsätzlich eingeschaltet lasse, funktioniert die gps-ortung schnell und fix. demnächst will ich aber in den usa spielen, und jetzt fangen die fragen an:

- normalerweise lasse ich das iphone im ausland im flugmodus - dann würde aber das gps nicht funktionieren. oder gibt es einen trick, wie das doch gehen könnte?

- wenn nicht, muss ich wohl auf den flugmodus verzichten. würden in dem fall dann kosten durch die gps-nutzung anfallen? und wenn ja: wären die dann ähnlich horrend wie die für andere datendienste, wenn man sie mit deutscher telekom-sim im ausland nutzt?

würde mich sehr über ein feedback freuen. im voraus: danke!

Wenn das APP die Karten des Golfplatzes auf das iPhone ladet, also Offline arbeitet, sollten keine Kosten entstehen.
Sollte sich das APP aber permanent ins iNet einwählen um Kartenmaterial nachzuladen, kann es natürlich zu horrenden Kosten kommen.
Du könntest natürlich Datenroaming abschalten, dann wird aber das App nicht funktionieren.

GPS hat mit Datenverbrauch nichts zu tun.

Ich habe mir das APP angesehen, denke das bei "15.000+ Courses" nicht alles offline zu Verfügung gestellt wird.

hab über nacht mal bei den entwicklern nachgefagt - die waren sauschnell und bestätigen deinen post:

As long as the app remains open, you will still be able to view the images. But if you close the app, you will need an internet connection to get the images again.

The 1.2 update has lots of upgrades, including the ability to enter statistics and send emails for all 4 golfers, but it also includes the Google license restrictions.

If you are synced with the states that you will be traveling to prior to leaving your t-com network you will have the scorecard and GPS location information for all the courses in the course synced region that you are traveling to. Unfortunately we can no longer cache the aerial images due to Googles licensing restrictions. If you can find wifi you should be able to download the course images and use them for your round if you keep the app open throughout the round.

It would be best to turn off data roaming so as to not incur data charges. If you keep the iPhone in Airplane mode you will not be able to use GPS as this function is disabled. GPS does not use any data charges.
