Handwriting Recognition for iPhone Now Available



Holy Egg Freckles!
A Chinese developer has released handwriting recognition software—both Latin and Chinese alphabets—for the iPhone. Similar to Graffiti,
the classic writing software for Palms, you can setup HWPen from Installer.app to give you an a writing area
that can take over the standard keyboard at the touch of button. It's a 1.0 beta version, but it works.

UPDATED:
You can download HWPen today using Installer.app. Go to "Sources,"
click on "Edit" and "Add" a new source:

Then refresh your sources and look for HWPen in the ACHTUNG, SOFTWAREDIEBSTAHL! DIESEN BEITRAG BITTE ZUR LÖSCHUNG MELDEN! packages category. Install the software and restart the iPhone.

You will have to restart your iPhone.

The software is still in beta and it has quite a few errors !!!

it doesn't work correctly in landscape mode and it doesn't appear in Mail.app for now—
but it works a bit better than Doonesbury's original Newton (I just started using it, though),
although not as good as later incarnations of the Newton or Graffiti, as you can see in the video.
But it's a start and hopefully it will get into a solid alternative for the people who hate the on-screen keyboard
(I prefer the keyboard myself, it's just a lot faster than I would ever be doing character recognition).

habs mal installiert, bindet sich automatisc ein, so das man neben der Tastatur, direkt neben der Leertaste einen "Button" zum aktivieren des Feldes für die Zeichenerkennung hat.

dann rechts in der leiste erstmal auf "ABC" klicken, damit er nicht auf chinesisch schreibt

aber leider muss ich sagen, ist das programm von der erkennung relativ schlecht..

einzelne buchstaben erkennt er ok, aber nicht wirklich

ganze wörter kann man ganz vergessen, kann kein normales "Hallo" schreiben, daraus macht er dann MWD oder HDL etc...

wenn das programm in der offiziellen Version kommt und ordentlich läuft, SUPER APP, respekt an den Entwickler..

ich kann nur sagen das die software auf dem hiphone drauf ist und dort funktioniert sie 1A

also werd eich noch warten bis ich mir das drauf hau

hast nicht gelesen das sie auf dem iphone noch nicht richtig funktioniert und vieles nicht erkennt für was soll ich mir die dann rauf tun?

ich habe nur gesagt das es auf dem hiphone super funktioniert und sonst nichts!

und das ich warte bis es auf dem iphone super funktioniert weil es toll ist

hoffe ihr könnt mir helfen
habe das HWPen installiert - schon länger- und da es sowieso nicht funktioniert, möchte ich es wieder runterwerfen, aber wie???? Denk
im installer find ich es nicht
im "finder" ist es NICHT unter den apps
aber unter /Library > aber delete funktioniert nicht
bin mit dem "finder" nicht so vertraut, wie werd ich das wieder los???
