Wo ist iCab mobile
#1

Zitat:Unfortunately the update 8.1 from today has a serious bug, which can lead to a crash directly after launching the App.
I have temporarily pulled the App from the AppStore to avoid that more users update their App, but I don't know how long it takes until all the AppStore servers will no longer deliver the App to users. So if you have not yet updated, please wait for the 8.1.1 release, which will fix the issue.

I've immediately submitted a bugfix release to Apple and requested an expedited review, but I do not know if Apple accepts my request. If they do, the update could be available soon, otherwise it takes the usual 7-10 days.

The crash occurs while updating a certain property of the Quickstarter bookmarks, which do already exist from older iCab Mobile releases. This means new users are not affected, also users which do not have any "old" Quickstarter items.

For all those who already have updated and can not use the App because of the crash can either wait for the update or if it is acceptable to delete the Quickstarter, try the following:

In case the Quickstarter is synced via iCloud, the Quickstarter file should be deleted from the iCloud first. To do this, open the "Settings" App of the device and go to "iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > iCab Mobile" and here delete the file "Quickstarter".

To delete the Quickstarter file within iCab Mobile, you would need a Mac or PC program like "iExplorer" http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/ which lets you access the internal files of all Apps. Configure iExplorer to show hidden files as well. Connect the device to your computer and in iExplorer open the iCab Mobile App and here open the folder "Documents/.Users/admin/" and delete the whole "quick starter" folder you can find here.

Now iCab Mobile should launch again without crash.

If you have multiple devices, you should switch off the Quickstarter sync for now, to avoid that the synced Quickstarter files form the other device will trigger the bug again.

I'm very sorry for this issue.
