Der Fehler liegt wohl daran, das das racoon/*conf nicht geschrieben oder gelesen werden kann. Beim aktivieren vom VPN legt iOS hier eine Translationtabelle an, damit die Pakete auch ihr eigentliches Ziel finden. Das kann entweder nicht gelesen werden, weil es woanders hingeschrieben wird, oder es wird nicht erstellt.

Dann sucht sich das Netzwerk einen Wolf, und bricht irgendwann die Suche ab und meldet das dem aufrufendem Programm (hier in meinem Fall FLOQ zum Netzwerktest (wesentlich besser als Netspeed).

Hier mal der Logauszug für die Zeit vom einschalten Zenmate VPN bis zur Fehlermeldung in FLOQ "Netzwerk nicht erreichbar":

Nur wenn Du die Bilder auch in Deinen Fotostream senden willst. Der Punkt hat aber nichts mit der Foto Mediathek zu tun.

Die Fotos sind nach wie vor auf dem Gerät mit dem sie aufgenommen wurden. Der Fotostream würde die Bilder halt nur auf die anderen Geräte verteilen die Deine ID und den Fotostream nutzen, also Mac, Apple TV, PC oder iPad zum Beispiel.

Wenn Du Deine Fotos im Backup sicherst sind sie auch nach einer Wiederherstellung wieder da.

Liegt an Dir. Ich habe am iPhone reichlich Platz und habe da "laden und Originale behalten" eingestellt, am iPad hingegen lasse ich den "Speicher optimieren" weil da der Platz fehlt. Wenn Du die Bilder (bzw ein Bild) betrachten möchtest würde er die(ses) dann bei der Option "Speicher optimieren) erst aus der Cloud laden. Im WLAN ist das Top, wenn Du Dir häufig im Mobilfunknetz Fotos angucken würdest zieht das natürlich immer am Datenvolumen.
