Contact Searching and Calendar Invites in 2.0 Update



Wie von Endadget berichtet wird, wird in der nächsten Version der Firmware eine Suche in den Kontakten möglich sein. Danke hierbei an einen Tippgeber, der Bilder einer Betaversion zur Verfügung gestellt hat, in welcher eine Suchleiste im Adressbuch zu sehen ist.
Über die Implementierung dieser Suche wurde spekuliert, seitdem auf einer öffentlichen Vorführung eine Lupe auf einem Screenshot zu sehen war. Mehr Information gab es bis dato darüber nicht.
Weiterhin sieht man auf den eingesandten Bildern, dass für einen Kalendereintrag an andere iPhone-Nutzer Einladungen verschickt werden können, die mit dem Gerät auch sofort angenommen oder abgelehnt werden können. (Anmerkung: Für Exchange-Benutzer ist dieses Merkmal überfällig ;-))
Die Betaversion ist derzeit lediglich für ausgesuchte Betatester und Firmenkunden erhältlich.
Das Update auf Version 2.0 soll im Juni 2008 erscheinen.

According to Engadget, contacts search will be included in the next iPhone software version.
Thanks to a tipster who sent in images from the enterprise iPhone beta, a search bar can be seen within the contacts application.
The feature was suspected to be included in the new software update when a magnifying glass was spotted
in a screenshot shown during the iPhone Software Roadmap event. No further evidence to this feature was available until now.
Additionally, the images sent in also show that invitations to calendar events can be sent
to iPhone users and accepted or declined immediately from the device.

The beta is currently only available to a select number of developers and enterprise customers.
The 2.0 update is due in June, 2008.

Gute Neuigkeiten für alle Software-Entwickler: Apple hat eine dritte Betaversion seines Software Development Kits herausgegeben, inklusive einer neuen Betaversion der Firmware 2.0. Unter anderem sollte eine Korrektur für die pink screens enthalten sein, über die von Entwicklern berichtet wurde. (Anmerkung: Die früheren Betaversionen der FW 2.0 enthalten ein Ablaufdatum, wie man dies auch von M$-Beta-Versionen kennt. Nach Ablauf zeigt das iPhone nur noch einen sog. pink screen. Dies nur als Warnung an alle neugierigen Hobby-Betatester.)

Die Betaversion der Firmware 2.0 enthält zahlreiche Erweiterungen für die Zusammenarbeit mit Exchange, einschließlich dem Empfang und der Annahme von Einladungen zu Meetings, der Suche nach Kontakten im globalen Adressbuch, dem Auto-Vervollständigen von E-Mail-Adressen im globalen Adressbuch und der automatischen Konfiguration, (Exchange 2007).

Good news for all you iPhone developers out there: Apple has seeded a third version of the iPhone SDK beta for developers,
as well as a new beta 2.0 firmware. Among other things, it should serve as a fix for the pink screens
of expired iPhones developers have been reporting.

iPhone firmware 2.0 Beta (5A240d) includes several fixes for with Exchange support, including receiving and accepting meeting invitations,
searching for contacts in the global address list, auto-complete email addresses in the global address list,
and setting up an exchange account using Autodiscovery
(Exchange 2007).

Jajah has announced that it is currently working on a VoIP program for Apple's iPhone. The company, which currently offers a web-based call-back solution for the iPhone, has stated that it is working on a program that will allow for free or low-cost global calls from the iPhone using the handset's WiFi feature.

“Jajah was one of the first in line to support the launch of the iPhone. Now with the release of the iPhone SDK, we are excited to develop a native VoIP application that will improve productivity and enhance the communication capabilities of mobile professionals with added security,” said Frederik Hermann, director, global marketing.

Hints to Future iPhone Functions Discovered in iPhone 2.0 Beta 3 Code Strings



When in doubt as to what the future holds, look through the code strings. A group of Greek writers has recently combed the text strings
of the recent beta of Apple's iPhone 2.0 firmware. Once again, the text strings refer to unannounced iPhone features such as the following:

-Strings found containing the text "A2DP" and "HeadphoneBT" may imply stereo Bluetooth as well as a possible Bluetooth remote control feature.

-Strings found containing "RoleGps", "RoleRemote" and "RodeA2DP" may point towards a possible GPS navigation function.

-A "Printers" directory in the /Library folder and a "YouTubePlugIn.webplugin" string may refer to the MobileSafari browser and imply that a new printer and YouTube functionality will be found in the program.

-A "Google411" text string may refer to Google Maps and local directory services being built upon in iPhone firmware 2.0

-A “BRICKED_AND_SIM_LOCKED_STRING” may imply that Apple is taking additional steps to unlocking the handset to an alternate wireless carrier.

The final version of the iPhone 2.0 firmware is due in June 2008.

Das wäre ja traurig für alle die jetzt schon ein iphone haben, wenn sie demnächst nicht die 2.0 nutzen könnten.
Die letzte Beta (5A225c) kursiert im Netz, wenn man kein Entwickler ist, war das die einzige Möglichkeit an sie heran zu kommen.
Ich würde sie mir aber besser nicht mehr installieren, ist seit dem neuen Release abgelaufen.

iPhone 2.0 Saves Images From Safari

The latest iPhone beta seeded to developers now has the ability to save images from within Safari to the iPhone's photo gallery.
According to a tip received by Gizmodo, tapping and holding on an image in Safari will bring up a menu that offers the option to "Save Photo".
Next to copy and paste, the ability to save images from Safari is an obvious feature.
Now you can finally save those wallpapers from ThemeMyPhone straight from Safari with no need to sync. Brilliant!



The iPhone 2.0 beta is currently only available to select iPhone developers.
Apple plans to release the next iPhone software update sometime in June.

New Features In Firmware 2.0 Build 5A240d

I’m usually not interested in betas, but I’m boring today, so I decided to give 2.0.5A240d a try and see if there’s interesting changes in it.
So I restored with iTunes then activated it. Since I’m not interested in using it,
so I just looked around trying to find out what’s new, the following is what I found:

Better Chinese Support

In old versions, when you switch to Chinese, you won’t notice any differences in GUI until you put the Chinese resource files into proper folder.
But in 2.0 these resource files are bundled, when I try switching to Chinese, the SpringBoard
and related settings immediately switch to new language.

MobileMail

In 2.0, MobileMail seems supporting more encodings. In old versions, it always uses UTF-8 encoding,
so some mails written in other encodings (e.g. GB2312) are not readable, this has changed in 2.0. Now MobileMail
correctly detects my GB2312-encoded mails.

SIM Contacts

Now you can import contacts from SIM into iPhone, but there seems no export function.
The import function is in Settings -> Phone.

Parent Control

There’s a new item in Settings -> General, the Parent Control.
You can control iTunes, Safari, YouTube, iTuneStore and App Store.

Others

There’re some minor changes in Settings.

Und über ein Update des SMS-Programm (ev. mit integrierter MMS Funktion) wurde auch nichts bekannt?
Ein Bluetooth-Update wäre auch nicht schlecht, sodass mit anderen Handys Daten ausgetauscht werden können.

Hoffen wir mal das diese Bluetooth Problem mit dem SDK behoben wird . MMS ? Nutzt du das wirklich? Also ich hab es nie vermisst und werde es auch nie brauchen.

Bin da nicht sicher ob Apple diese Funktion "Freigeben" wird. Selbst als Developer hast Du ohne Apples Erlaubnis keine Chance dieses einfach zu implementieren.
Was wohl kommen wird ist der A2DP Standard, damit können alle A2DP fähigen Kopfhörer und andere Audioempfänger drahtlos vom iPhone betrieben werden.
